My school, Gymnazium Sturovo, a provincial academic secondary school of about 490 students and 40 staff was established more than 50 years ago. It provides academic education for students aged between 10 – 19 years old in the region. The modern classrooms, teaching programmes and relatively young and hardworking staff have always been a magnet for those who aimed to gain good and quality education in this region. Innumerable managers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, researchers, musicians etc. established their knowledge in this educational institution spreading its good reputation. Several members of its staff have been involved not only in regional but national innovative projects e.g.: Curriculum Transformation, Further Education of Teachers, The New Model of School-Leaving Examinations etc. run by the National Institution for Education in Slovakia. Gymnazium Sturovo has always been a home to new, creative and non-traditional ideas, programmes and projects.

Developing Quality in Mathematics Education throughout the united Europe in the 3rd millennium is not only a new challenge to everybody interested in, but can be a cornerstone to finding answers for crucial questions on human beings` survival on our beautiful blue planet in the following several decades.
